On the Dalmatian coast, the ocean is clear and blue, warm and hospitable. Croatia has a very long history, and is interspersed with many little towns that are centuries old making Croatia a very different and memorable place to vacation. It’s easy to see why this region has become an increasingly popular travel destination.
Is Croatia the new Tuscany? Croatia offers the same high standards of old Tuscany – an authentic Mediterranean vacation with sun, sea, sand, and beautiful countryside, with no high-rise hotels or ubiquitous fast-food chains.
The Dalmatian coast real estate market is fairly well-developed. Croatian land and Croatian house prices are still very favorable, particularly on the Dalmatian islands where properties like the beautiful Croatian stone houses are still built in the traditional style.
In beautiful Croatian historic towns such as Dubrovnik, Hvar, Zadar or Korcula there are excellent real estate and property opportunities to acquire some prime location real estate at reasonable prices. Foreign interest in buying property in Croatia, including the small islands, suddenly grew two years ago.
Before that, foreigners didn’t believe that the real estate market was worth investing in. The Dalmatian coast real estate on the west side of Croatia (Hrvatska), the coastal strip, is lined by hundreds of islands and is bordered on the east coast by the Adriatic Sea.
The islands of Croatia are large and small, populated and non-populated, lush green and barren. There are eight beautiful National Parks in Croatia full of wildlife, yet a Mediterranean climate balmy enough to grow palms, vines and olives. The largest city in the north is Split, and to the south, Dubrovnik. Other main cities in the region include Dubrov, Sibenik and Zadar, and among the largest islands are Brac, Hvar, Korcula, Mljet and Dugi Otok.
